Now it came to pass in those days, there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be enrolled.


Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Cæsar, or not?


But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had aught whereof to accuse my nation.
