The first part of the Scriptures in chiManda (Manda) was the liturgical Psalter, called Zaburi sya Daud (Psalms of David). It was translated by William Percival Johnson and Thomas H. Hicks of the Universities' Mission to Central Africa (UMCA), assisted by nationals. It was published as Zaburi sya Daud in 1913 by the Universities' Mission to Central Africa Mission Press.
