Tips for Preaching the Gospel to Atheists

It is common that many believers do not know how to approach those atheists, so it is necessary to know what are the steps to follow to evangelize these people more effectively.

Tips for Preaching the Gospel to Atheists

In most cases, these people seem to have a “hard shell”, and this is because many of them have lived through difficult situations and refuse to believe in the existence of a God who is the creator of all things.

Atheists have a lot of arguments to refute or contradict the word of God, they look for an explanation to all phenomena based on most cases in science.

How should atheists be approached?

The first thing is to consider that for God, all people are valuable and important, so one should not be a respecter of persons when spreading the gospel. Even if a person says “not believing in God”, they should be preached to with all love.

The first thing to do is to maintain a relaxed attitude, trusting that God will put in all the words necessary to answer any doubts and concerns.

Perhaps you do not have all the answers to their doubts, but the most important thing is to sow a seed of the word, because God is in charge of growth.

It is important not to get into a discussion, since God’s word is not for contention. It’s necessary to show the Lord’s love without falling into conflict (Romans 14:1).

Some questions that can help you in your preaching:

  1. If God existed, what would you ask him?
  2. Is there any reason not to believe in God?
  3. Highlight some positive quality about them

If they ask for proof of God’s existence:

In this case you can tell them about creation and the natural wonders that science has not been able to explain, always trying to leave a place for doubt.

He can be urged to ask God himself for proof of his existence; encouraging him to take a moment alone in his room and tell God in his own words that “though he has not believed in his existence, he wants to know if he really exists.”

A Bible example is found at Mark 9:24, when the father of a boy who had been demonized since he was a child told Jesus to help his unbelief.

Just as Jesus had mercy on this boy whose father was an unbeliever, He will also have mercy on all those who still do not believe in His existence, He is waiting for the moment when their eyes will be opened.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” — Romans 10:14.

Clearly, the children of God are the ones who spread the gospel message to every creature. The Holy Spirit will put the necessary words, He will take care of convincing of sin and righteousness, John 16:8-11.
