The seven wonders of the world

After a geography class where they had talked about the seven wonders of the world, the teacher asked the students to do an essay about what they had learned in class and to select which were the greatest wonders that they considered existed in the world.

Despite the different opinions, the majority of the students voted for the following:

The Chinese Wall

St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome

While voting, the teacher noticed that one of the students remained in her seat quietly and had not presented her list yet. So the teacher asked her if she had a problem with the essay.

The young girl timidly replied: – “Yes, a little. I could not decide, because there are so many wonders … “.

The student hesitated a bit and finally read her list:

– «I believe that the seven wonders are:»

1. Being able to speak.

2. Being able to see.

3. Being able to think.

4. Being able to hear.

5. Being able to help.

6. To Pray.

7. To Love.

Everyone was stunned and remained silent at the student’s words. This was surely the day when the students and the teacher understood what “the seven wonders of the world” truly are.

“People admire the great architectures that man has made throughout history, many of these buildings are protected and considered as cultural heritage, and in some cases, are considered ‘wonders’. But when we really look around us, we understand that the great wonders that our God has done are those that often go unnoticed by the human eye, and are the ones that bring the most satisfaction to our lives.”

«We have these seven wonders at our reach and many others, we can laugh, love, hug, give a word of encouragement … simple gestures that can transform a gray day into clarity. Let’s give all glory to the creator of wonders … Our amazing God».
