The Bible tells us that it is good having friends. In fact, it says that are friends that are closer than brothers.
“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs-18-24
But is also tells us that we have to choose our friends wisely. That’s why It shows us the kinds of people we should avoid.
So, for you to develop strong friendship relationships, you should first know the type of person you are going to start sharing your experiences of life.
God loves you so much, and wants the best for you, that’s why He left a list that describes the kinds of people you should avoid in order that you can be on alert.
The Bible describes these people as“Lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” 2 timothy 3:2-5
The fact that God warns us to avoid these kinds of people doesn’t mean we don’t have to see or talk to them.We just have to avoid developing a very close friendship relationship to the point that we start imitating their behaviour. They are people that we have to be careful around, but who need to know about the love of Jesus; so, we have to keep praying for them and sharing the good news of salvation for until the light of Jesus enters their minds and hearts.
Remember that our goal as Christians is to make people know about God’s great love for them.
