The gift you want doesn’t always come the way you expect

A young boy was about to graduate, many months ago he admired a beautiful sports car that he saw in a dealer, knowing that his father could buy it, he told him that this car was everything he wanted.

Finally, on the morning of graduation day, his father called him to come to his room. He told him how proud he was to have such a good son and how much he loved him. The father had in his hands a beautiful gift box. Curious about what the box contained inside, the young man opened it and what he found was a beautiful leather-covered Bible with his name written in gold letters. Angry, he yelled at his father saying: “With all the money you have, and the only thing you give me is this Bible” and he left the house.

The young man was so disappointed that he left the house to make his own life by his own.

Many years passed and the young man became a successful businessman. He had a beautiful house and a nice family, but when he found out that his old father was very ill, he thought about visiting him.

He had not seen his father since his graduation day. Before he could leave to see him, he received a telegram saying that his father had died, and had inherited all his possessions, so he urgently needed to go to her father’s house to arrange all the paperwork immediately.

The truth

When he arrived at his father’s house, a feeling of sadness and regret filled his heart. And searching among his father’s documents he found the Bible that his father had given him on that occasion. With tears, he opened it and began to leaf through its pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse in Matthew 7:11 “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

While reading those words, the car keys fell from the Bible. They had a card from the car dealer where he had seen that sports car that he had wanted so much. On the card was the date of his graduation day and the words:TOTALLY PAID.

Not everything we want comes in wrapping paper

How many times have we lost God’s blessings just because they didn’t come the way we wanted to see it? Not everything we want comes in wrapping paper.

Here you have many examples: a baby comes with pain and blood, a pearl comes with a shell. Money comes with work and sweat.

We can receive so many things in ways we don’t expect or want. How are you going to receive a graduation diploma, without having studied before? It doesn’t work like that.

Our heavenly Father gives blessings to those who ask him, and to those who strive to obtain them, but first you have to become his son, and earn that blessing. Because in life everything has its price, plus God’s salvation and blessings are free.

Do not be discouraged because you do not see the things you want, keep fighting, God will help you get them.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:33
