Seven things the LORD hates

There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” Proverbs 6:16-19

1. Haughty eyes

Haughtiness is also defined as arrogance, and pride of heart. According to the word of God in Proverbs 21:4 it is a sin. Our Lord dwells with the humble and broken in spirit, he who underestimates others is not demonstrating God’s love.

Every believer must remember where God took him from and that despite his sins, God had mercy and looked at him with eyes of love.

2. A lying tongue

Proverbs 18:21 refers to the tongue as a powerful weapon, for blessing, and for cursing.  We must consider that Satan is the father of lies and when we tell lies we become similar to him. That’s why we have to be like God, He loves truth and justice.

There is a fearful punishment for the one who tells lies. You can read it in the book of Revelation 21: 8.

 3. Hands that shed innocent blood

Cain is the first example that represents this aspect. In the Bible, you can read about his story when he murdered his brother, Abel.

For many years, Satan has made this act look like something every day. However, the word says that in recent times there would be very bad people, 2 Timothy 3: 2-4. Christ paid a heavy price for our lives, so whoever murders takes the blood of Christ as unclean.

4. A heart that devises wicked schemes

In the heart are thoughts, feelings, and emotions, Matthew 15:19.

That is why it is very important for us to guard our hearts, Proverbs 4:23. The evil in our environment is because Satan has taken possession of many hearts, and because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold Matthew 24:12.

5. Feet that are quick to rush into evil

God is good and everyone who comes from Him must practice goodness, but those who commit iniquity will not enter the Kingdom of God, Galatians 5:21.

Therefore no child of God participates in evil, knowing that: “If we resist the devil, he will flee from us” (James 4: 7), but if we let ourselves carry out our end is death.

6. A false witness who pours out lies

We are children of God, bearers of his grace so we must keep our mouth from speaking with deception, when we have to be honest with our words, not creating contention with one another, but witnessing what is fair and true, being editors in everything whatever we say

Proverbs 19:5 makes reference that the false witness will have his pay.

7. A person who stirs up conflict in the community

The children of God are members of the same body (the body of Christ) as it says in 1 Corinthians 12:12, that is why Satan has always wanted to bring division to the church.

The word of God shows us the benefits of being in unity with our family of faith, in Psalm 133: 1-3.
