A day like any other, a father from a wealthy family decided he wanted to teach his son a lesson about poverty. He took his son on a trip through the countryside for his son to see the reality of poor people. They were spending all day and night at a farm of a very humble peasant family.
At the end of the trip, while they were on their way back home, the father asked his son:
What did you think of the trip?
Son: It was very nice, dad.
Did you see how poor people can be? Asked the father.
Son: Yes, I did.
And what did you learn? The father asked his son.
Son: I learned that there are people who have greater and more valuable things and that makes them be blessed. I saw that we have a dog at home, they have five. We have a long pool up to the middle of the garden, they have a stream that has no end. We have imported lamps in the yard, they have the stars. Our patio reaches the wall of the house, theirs has a horizon. They have time to talk and live together as a family, you and my mom have to work all day and I don’t get to see you that much.
When the boy stopped talking, the father was speechless, and his son added: Thank you dad, for teaching me how rich we can become!
