Many diseases in our world are simply because we do not have the joy we should. When we live tense and on the edge, that causes us headaches, digestive problems, lack of energy. We do not sleep well. A lot of this would go away if we only learned how to handle stress properly. One of the best de-stressing that God has given us is laughter.
Laughing is like taking a medicine. Not only does it make you feel better, it also releases healing in your system. When we laugh, it restores, rejuvenates and frees us from the pressures of life that take its place.
Proverbs 17:22 puts it like this, “Joyful heart is good medicine” Note, when we are affable and full of joy, taking time to laugh, taking time to play, it’s like taking good medicine. That’s what helps us stay healthy. In fact, medical science tells us that people, who laugh, raise their immune system.
Laughter reduces the blood pressure. People who laugh regularly are 40% less likely to have heart attacks than people who do not laugh regularly. Laughter puts into operation the right side of the brain, which allows to release creativity, helps us make better decisions. Laughter activates natural tranquilizers that not only calm us but help us sleep better.
There is healing power in laughter. I’ll give you a prescription today: Every day, at least three times a day, find something funny that makes you laugh a lot. Release those endorphins inside. Activate your natural tranquilizers. Make sure you are taking your medicine!
