Answer
The mark of the beast is a symbol that will be placed on a person’s forehead or right hand during the end times as a symbol of loyalty to the Antichrist (Revelation 13:15-18). Moreover, no one will be permitted to participate in trade without the mark «and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. », (Revelation 13:17). It seems that some form of adoration of the Antichrist is linked to receiving the mark (Revelation 14:9; Revelation 16:2), and those who refuse to worship the image of the beast will be put to death «And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. », (Revelation 13:15).
The question then arises as to whether a person who has received the mark of the beast can be forgiven. The response to this inquiry appears to be “no.” Revelation 14:10–11, describing the destiny of someone who accepts the mark of the beast, states, “He also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”
The eternal fate of those who accept the mark of the beast is the lake of fire. Why is accepting the mark of the beast a condemnable act?
Sin against God? Why might God condemn an individual to hell for accepting the mark of the beast? It seems that accepting the mark of the beast will constitute a blasphemous act of deliberate rebellion against God. Accepting the mark of the beast essentially means worshipping Satan. Those who accept the mark have chosen to serve Satan instead of following God and accepting Christ as their Savior. When individuals make this choice during the tribulation, God will honor their wish to be eternally distant from Him.
