A moment of trouble, a moment to reflect

Some people affirm that what you are going to read is a true story but wether it is true or not, it leaves you geat teaching.

A 93-year-old man collapsed and was transported to the hospital. Doctors gave him oxygen to support him for 24 hours. After he felt better, he was ready to leave the hospital.

When paying for the hospital service, doctors gave him his 500.000 bill, when he saw it , he started crying.

The doctors told him not to cry because of the bill, but inmediatly the man said “I am not crying because of the bill, I can pay all that money. I am crying because for only 24 hours of oxygen I have to pay 500.000; I have been breathing the air God gives me for 93 years and I have never paid anything. Do you know how much I owe Him?”

After these words, the doctors put their heads down and burst into tears.

A moment of trouble

As long as you are on earth, you will face trials, the Lord Jesus talked about this (John 16:33). But what Jesus wants you to know is that this is not to destroy you but to make you grown by reflection on your life.

In the story above, you can see how this 93-year-old man learned and shared a great teaching after he went through a hard time. He understood that what he used to see as normal (talking about the breathing) was a great gift from God, totaly free.

During this difficult time this man understood that God never asked him anything for giving him air to keep him alive for 93 years.

A momento to reflect

It wasn’t until he went through this hard time he could reflect on the ungrateful lifestyle he was living. Sometimes, God let some situations to happen in your life to call your atention for you to focus on what really matters, for you to understand the true meaning of life.

Have you ever thought about all the things God has given you without you paying anything? Have you ever stopped to think about all the good things around you?

This is a good moment to thank God and reflect on the way you are living. Life on this earth is for a period of time (James 4:14). Take advantage of every opportunity, day, hour, minute, and second to live to please God and give Him thanks for all the good you receive from Him (James 1:17). He gives them to you for FREE, because He loves you!
