Following Jesus not only represents a life waiting to receive blessings and be excluded from the conflicts and afflictions of this world, but it also means carrying the cross and suffering contempt, criticism and even persecution for our faith in Christ.
Proverbs 4: 26-27 “Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
Hebrews 12:13 “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
Psalm 119: 5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!
