Should Christians go to worldly parties?

A young girl asked her father to take her to a mundane party. The father who was also a Christian refused to do it. But as her daughter insisted, saying that she wasn’t going to dance, that she just wanted to watch, the man accepted and took her there.

On the way to the party, the father told her daughter (who was wearing a beautiful white dress): ‘Let’s go to the mine where I work. I need to pick up something’. But the girl replied: ‘But father, my white dress will get dirty’!

 ‘No!’ he replied, ‘you’ll just watch. Don’t touch anything’. They got into the mine and when they came out; the beautiful white dress of that young lady was dirty, spotted by the dust of the coal from the mine. ‘Father my dress got dirty by the coal; but I didn’t touch anything’. The young girl exclaimed distressed. ‘The same will happen to you in the mundane party: you will dirty your testimony and your Christian life because of the sin around you, even if you’re only watching’.

John 15:19  ‘If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you’.

1 John 2:15 ’Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.’
