Are you living a cultural or a biblical Christianity?

Christianity seems to be rising around the world. More and more people are identifying themselves as Christians. But it doesn’t mean they really are. The Bible is clear when says “by their fruit you will recognize them”, Matthew 7:20.

It is true that missionaries and Christians around the world are striving efforts to preach the gospel of Jesus for souls to get saved.

But as Christianity gets more open, the “comfortable” Christianity also gets on the scene. The lines between the two can become blurred. For that reason, it is important to know the difference. This can help you know the type of Christianity you are living, the cultural or the biblical one.

Cultural Christianity

This type of Christianity has do to with the way ‘people think’ Christianity is.  People give more revelance to what “others” think than what God thinks. It is a type of comfortable belief in a loving God that might occasionally step in to help people to be happy when they need it and if the person asks. It is beliving and following God’s commandments according to their own way and principles for others “to see” they are good.

Many people could freely call themselves “Christian” (even if they’d never prayed or read the Bible). They attribute this name to themselves just for the fact their family and neighbors were Christians.

Biblical Christianity

Biblical Christianity has to do with following to the fullest the principles of the Bible; all of the Bible is considered the true, inspired Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). So, it is vital to obey it even though it has unpopular or uncomfortable things to follow (accodring to people’s perception, of course).

This type of Christianity is a commitment to serving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the Son of God, and surrendering oneself to Him for salvation and forgiveness. It is the act of following His commandments that are inside of the Holy book, the Bible.

Here, a person develops a relationships with God through communication based on prayers (you talk to God),  reading of the Bible (God talks to you), and many other spiritual activities that will help you be more and more like the person of Jesus.

This type of Christianity requires commitment to God, repentance from sins, forgiveness, and a healthy relationship with the ones around you, not only the times you want, but every single day of your life because your goal is pleasing God and glorify His name.

Today, it is a good opportunity for you to stop and think about the way you are living. Are you living a cultural or a biblical Christianity?

It is a very important question, and the answer can give you the assurance of salvation. Being a Christian is not only saying it, it is living it. Living what? the life Jesus Christ wants you to live. A life without the fruit of the sinful nature (the flesh) Galatians 5:16-21, but full of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23.

For that, you first have to receive Jesus Christ in your heart as your Lord and savior; asking Him to clean all your sins and help you obey His commandments (Romans 10:8 -10)
