Dr. Daniel Kennefick, a physics professor at the University of Arkansas, notes that the total solar eclipse that will cross the United States on April 8 is a unique and dramatic event.<\/p>\n

He explains that this phenomenon occurs when the Moon, by a peculiar coincidence, is the same apparent size as the Sun in our skies, allowing the solar corona to be seen.<\/p>\n

In total, eight major U.S. cities will be in the path of totality, which is the 115-mile-wide path beneath the moon\u2019s central shadow.<\/p>\n

The eclipse will not only darken and cool, but you will also be able to witness an extraordinary spectacle that can fool animals, such as birds, into believing that night has suddenly arrived.<\/p>\n

Dave Parker of the Arkansas Department of Transportation expects about a million more people to visit his state during the eclipse, which will run from the night of Thursday the 4th to Tuesday the 9th.<\/p>\n

Due to the large influx of tourists, many schools in Arkansas and other states have canceled classes and Texas officials are urging residents to stock up on food and gas.<\/p>\n

In Ohio, the governor has signed an executive order to increase emergency management staffing, as everyone is treating this event like a major travel vacation.<\/p>\n

More than 31 million people are expected to be in the path of totality when the eclipse passes through North America. Although eclipses are exciting to us today, in ancient times they had a very different meaning.<\/p>\n

Dave Parker notes that highways and interstates will be crowded during this event.<\/p>\n

For Dr. Scott Stripling of Associates for Biblical Research, this is an omen, as celestial phenomena were considered in ancient times.<\/p>\n

Using a combination of information from NASA and the ancient Assyrian calendar, the group Associates for Biblical Research claims to have identified an eclipse that occurred over Nineveh in the 8th century BC. This event was followed by a series of catastrophic natural phenomena.<\/p>\n

\u00abAnd behold, what does the Bible show us? \u201cA renegade prophet named Jonah comes along and preaches repentance at a time when they would be open to him and normally wouldn\u2019t because of the omen,\u201d Stripling explained.<\/p>\n

Stripling points out that using the same dating method it has been possible to determine that a celestial event took place in the year 33 AD, on April 3, around the same date that the Gospels mention that the earth went dark during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. .<\/p>\n

This suggests that a lunar eclipse may have occurred at that time, which would have had a major impact on ancient civilizations.<\/p>\n

Despite the different reactions that the next solar eclipse may provoke, many people around the world will be carefully watching the sky on April 8 in search of a phenomenon that has amazed humanity since ancient times.<\/p>\n
