Twitter bans politician for saying men can’t get pregnant

The Twitter account of a Spanish politician was temporarily suspended last week after he tweeted that ”A man cannot get pregnant. A man has neither uterus nor ovaries.”

Spanish MP Francisco Contreras.

According to Fox News, Twitter suspended Francisco José Contreras’s account for 12 hours, although his tweet was scientifically correct.

Contreras’ comment was in response to a news article that reported on the case of a “pregnant man” giving birth to “his” child. It was the case of a biological woman who identifies as a male who announced that she would give birth to a girl.

Contreras’ tweet said in response to the article: “That’s a lie. A man cannot get pregnant. A man has neither uterus nor ovaries.”

Last Tuesday through Facebook, the politician announced that he had been temporarily blocked from Twitter for “hate speech.”

“The hateful tweet (which I was forced to delete) was one that said: ‘A man cannot get pregnant. A man has neither uterus nor ovaries”’, Contreras wrote.

“You can see this is already fascist biology. Next time I’ll try 2 + 2 = 4,” he added.

According to Twitter, Contreras’ post violated its policies against content  that threatens, harasses, or fosters violence against other people on the basis of their race, ethnic origin, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religion, age, disability or disease.

“Keep in mind that repeated defaults may lead to permanent suspension of your account,” Twitter warned. “Go to Twitter now to fix the problem with your account.”

Meanwhile, Contreras said in a statement sent to LifeSite site that he and his party members “We will not yield to Twitter imposing a twisted (and anthropologically wrong) worldview.”

“We will continue to speak the truth about human nature,” he continued.

”Biological truth should not be regarded as ‘hate speech’. It’s biology, not bigotry,” he added.
