The Simpsons and “Coronavirus”: The strange coincidences in 1993 episode

Some users of the different internet platforms have pointed out that an episode of the series many years ago was able to predict the events caused by the well-known “Coronavirus”.

The controversial episode was broadcast in the 1990s.

For many people, it is usual to hear “the Simpsons predicted it in one episode“; because there are those who consider that the series is an “oracle” that can predict the future.

Every time an unprecedented event occurs, there is a certain connection with some episodes of the program that makes fans believe that the series knows the future.

This is what some of them wrote on Twitter:

The Simpsons has predicted it again! This episode aired 27 years ago in 1993.#CoronaVirus #Wuhan #CoronavirusOutbreak #Corona #Virus #ChinaCoronaVirus #ChinaVirus #WuhanVirus,” one person tweeted along with pictures from the episode.

Another person wrote: “The Simpsons scares me. This episode aired 27 years ago in 1993 #CoronaVirus.”

Some of the events that the program “guessed” are the attack on the twin towers, the injury of Neymar and the victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections.

And the latest news relates to this issue is that “The Simpsons” predicted the “Covid-19”. It is circulating on social media.

In that episode, people from Springfield have strange flu when receiving packages through online shopping.

These packages came from Japan caused the disease to spread throughout the city.

Some aspects that do not match

Even though some fans believe The Simpsons has “a power” for predicting global events, there are many aspects that make the series fail at it.

The virus in the episode came from Japan, instead of China, besides that, the COVID-19 is so dangerous that it can kill. However, in the program, the virus people get is just flu.

The series is not an oracle

While it is true that “The Simpsons” is not a religious program. It is an entertainment show for adult/youth audience. Its purpose is making fun of many things, sometimes in inappropriate ways; but the main idea is to make people laugh.

You can’t see the series as an “oracle capable of guessing the future.”

God condemns this practice as something he does not like.
