“The pandemic is far from over,” says WHO while the U.S. reveals alarming figures

The alarming statements issued by the world’s largest health agency, accompanied by the increase in cases in various countries, is beginning to concern many.

During a video message, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General issued the statements.

In the United States, cities like Florida and California are once again closing their bars, beaches and cinemas because of an increase in Covid-19 cases across the country.

Infections have increased in at least 32 states, with 36,000 new cases reported yesterday morning alone.

Although the number is high, it does not compare with the statistics recorded last Friday, when the number was 45,000 infected.

CBN News reports that Texas is preparing field hospitals, because 70% of the hospital capacity is in use.

But one of the darkest situations is in Arizona, where only 13% of the beds in the Intensive Care Units are available.

The status of doctors and health professionals

“Patients are suffering, using fans for weeks. Families can’t be here. There are patients who are begging me not to put them on a breathing machine because they know they might die, they may never speak to their families again,” said Dr. Jennifer O’Hea of the University of Phoenix Medical Center.

Dr. Brad Dreifuss, another professional, says that many health care workers “are on the verge of breaking down.”

“It’s not like you can walk away from the people you’ve been caring for in your community, or someone you’ve been caring for in the ICU for three weeks. You’re there, you’re in, you’re with them, and that’s why it’s so emotionally draining,” Dreifuss said.

Even though cities like New York and New Jersey have low numbers, they’re thinking about pausing their reopening by seeing what happens to their neighbors.

On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) says “this pandemic is not even close to over.”

In the face of this, he adds that, in fact, its gravity is accelerating and “the worst is yet to come”. His response to this situation is: testing, tracing, isolation and quarantine.

Let’s continue to pray to God for His mighty hand to intervene in the midst of all that the nations of the earth are going through right now.
