Philippine President Orders Killing of Quarantine Violators

Last week, the President of the Philippines obtained “special powers” from Congress to fight the pandemic during the quarantine.

The president gave the order during a speech on television.

Rodrigo Duterte, president of the Philippines, ordered the nation’s police forces to “shoot to kill” those citizens who violate the quarantine decreed by the Coronavirus.

“I do not doubt. My orders are for the police and the military, if there is trouble or a situation arises where people are fighting and their lives are in danger, shoot to kill,” the politician said during a televised speech.

“Dead. In exchange for causing trouble, I will send you to your grave,” Duterte threatened on the same day that a group of people in Manila protested without permission to the police.

Much of the Philippines has been closed, and strict rules of confinement have been reported.

Unfortunately, this has prevented millions of people in the poorest neighborhoods from getting the daily sustenance they need.

For his part, the Philippines‘ top leader accused left-wing civil groups of instigating the protest, and asked them not to cause trouble or he would arrest and detain them until the outbreak was over.

The Philippines has so far recorded 96 deaths and some 2,300 confirmed cases in the last three weeks.
