The 22-year-old also received a gift box and homemade cake when she was leaving home to go to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire hospital last Thursday.
Her mother Ali, 55, who proudly watched the round of applause alongside her husband, Phil, 55, and her other daughter, Tash, 21, said the event touched her.
“Shee just loves her job”
“Tayla just couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe that people would even notice what she’s doing. She just loves her job,” said Ali.
“I had no idea the whole street would come out. I just thought it might be our next door neighbours and the house opposite,” she continued.
“What I didn’t realise was that every single house had at least one person come out to clap her,” she added.
Talking about the Covid-19 issue in her nation, Tayla’s mother revealed that her daughter has unfortunately missed out some family celebrations, such as her sister’s birthday. Besides, she often comes her home exhausted.
“She’s seeing things that are quite scary. But she goes out there and puts a brave face on,” said Ali.
The video has been played more than 700,000 times and has been shared by more than 48,000 people.
