AFP reported that the arrests came after the testimony of several Palestinians about their support for Israel was published on Israeli open television.

The video shows people with blurred faces and distorted voices.

Most of the interviewees contradicted the Palestinian Authorities and criticized the ways of acting in the country by calling them “corrupt” and “failed”, in addition to expressing their desire to have Israeli citizenship if the annexation is extended by 30% more.

Extreme arrests

The journalist who prepared the investigation said that all those who appear on the video were arrested on the basis of their families’ testimony.

“I was surprised to see that even though I’ve blurred the faces of all the people I filmed and distorted their voices, the Authority has reached and arrested (some) of them, it’s just amazing.” said Tzvi Yehezkeli, the Israeli journalist.

The information provided by the families is that one of the arrested is about to appear in court after being arrested for weeks, but with all the fear that this decision means, he is waiting for “Israel to give him citizenship soon.”

For their part, the Palestinian authorities flatly deny the charges against them. “We have not arrested anyone in connection with this case,” said Ghassan Nimr, spokesman for the Palestinian Interior Ministry.

The annexation is currently being held pending Israel’s completion of negotiations with the Trump administration on its progress.

Benjamin Netanyahu said that once the annexation is completed, Palestinians who are subject to its laws will not be granted Israeli citizenship.

Eighty-eight percent of Palestinians do not agree with the annexation, seeing it as the end of the Palestinian state. Fifty-two percent favor resolving it with armed struggle and 42% do not support violence, according to the Palestinian Center for Policy Research and Surveys.
