More than 338,000 U.S. children tested positive for Covid-19 as of July

Alarming numbers of infections of covid-19 are taking place in U.S. ; this time, in children.
Acording to a study of the American Academy of Pediatrics, more than 338,000 children tested positive for the coronavirus as of July.
Experts reported that around 100,000 of those cases in the last two weeks of the month. The report also shows that withing the same month of July, more than 25 children died.
Michael George reports, that this numbers come as some states are returning  or making plans to return for the 2020 school year.
Some schools have begun welcoming crowds back to class while others readjusted their reopening plans in response to infections.
In relation to this, public school nurses are asking for help to battle the covid-19.
An example of the risk children takle at school is the one at a high school in Georgia. It made headlines after a photo of a crowded school hallway went viral, nine coronavirus cases were reported. A letter from the principal explained that six of those cases were students and three were staff members.

Children are at risk and might put others at risk, too

Another study said children younger than 5 carry a higher viral load than adults, raising even more questions about their role in transmission.

At least 86 children have died since May, according to the new report. Last week, a 7-year-old boy with no pre-existing conditions became the youngest coronavirus victim in Georgia. In Florida, two teenagers died earlier this month bringing the state’s death toll of minors to seven.
