A mother and daughter were driving near Shomron, Samaria, when two armed men abducted them from the car they were travelling in.

During that situation, one of the men fired his gun into the air before turning it on one of the women.

According to information provided by Breaking Israel News, the Arab pulled the trigger, but his gun miraculously jammed and the women were saved.

The hijackers stole the vehicle and fled in the direction of the village of Jabed, where a sergeant was killed in May after being hit on the head by a large stone.

A reduced security problem

Shomron Regional Council Chairman Yossi Dagan attributed the attack to reduced security.

“This event is the result of the elimination of checkpoints whose absence allowed the attackers to escape. In the name of easing restrictions on Arab movement in the area, Israelis living in the area are attacked, including a mother and daughter,” Dagan said.

“If the checkpoints had not been removed, they would not have been able to escape to Jabed and therefore would not have carried out the attack in the first place,” he added.
