Millionaire uses his fortune to help poor children in Africa

A millionaire man has decided to invest his fortune in the poor street children and abandoned children of Kenya, whom he provides with home, clothing, food and education.

Charles Mully, a man who experienced extreme poverty and lived as a beggar as a child, achieved success by becoming a millionaire. After years in business he decided to sell everything, to devote himself to helping the most needy children.

‘When I was six, I woke up one day and discovered that I was alone, with no food and no one to support me. I became a street kid, a beggar,’ Mully told CBN News.

Mully was successful when he started using his old car as a taxi. After some time he took out a loan and bought a fleet of cars and then buses. He ventured into the oil and real estate business and quickly became a well-known millionaire.

‘Sometimes it’s hard for me to measure the level, but I can recognize and say that the Lord helped me thrive in the little business I started,’ Mully said.

‘When I look back, I see the grace of God and a good plan to bless many children. God was planning to become an instrument for the future.’

Fortunately married and father of eight children, Mully felt the call of God to sell everything he had. This happened in 1986, after a meeting with children who were begging in the streets.

‘I saw myself in their faces, because I was trying to hide myself, I never shared it with anyone, I do not remember sharing my testimony about my past, I wanted people to see me as an important man, with money and many possessions,’ He said.

The Mully family began to help poor African children, growing up to become the Mully Children’s Family organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and help of abandoned children in Africa. But it has not been an easy process.

‘All that we have achieved was not easy, together with my wife, we suffered the rejection of our friends, who never wanted to hear anything about this project, they thought I was crazy.’

Despite criticism from people around him, more than 13,000 children call him ‘Dad Mully,’ who have become doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers and lawyers.

‘I see the world, I see Kenya and I see the continent of Africa being transformed by them and through Christ that strengthens us,’ Mully said.
