Kenya has recently elected a new leader for its country, its first Christian president, who was sworn in with Bible in hand and with great hope that God will do justice to this nation that has been hit by Christian persecution.
William Ruto, who had already been vice president of the nation from 2013 until this year, was elected by the majority for a new era within the country; he and his wife celebrated the victory by kneeling and praying to God.
During his campaign, the new president earned the nickname «Deputy Jesus» from his opponents, which has not been a source of shame but of pride for all those who are Jesus followers.
His way of reaching people was to show his spiritual part with everyone, sharing photos of his time as a pastor when he was younger, thus putting his faith at the forefront of every political argument in a nation, which has 85% of the population proclaiming the Christianity.
Likewise, he attributed his victory to the prayers that he and his wife made in different meetings, supported by the wife of the current vice president, Rigathi Gachagua, Dorcas, who is a pastor and has been in charge of lifting up not only the new leaders but also the entire country, who emphasizes that family prayer is important to give glory to God.
An incredible point has been that the Ruto had the support of the Muslim community, since the moment he proclaimed his negative position on homosexual marriage and abortion from the beginning, the same support granted Ruto’s colleagues a majority in the Kenyan Parliament.
«I, William Samoei Ruto, in full realization of the high calling that I assume as President of Kenya, will be faithful to the Republic of Kenya and will obey, preserve and defend this Constitution,» Ruto said in the Kasarani Stadium.
Even with all the opposition he received from his opponents, who said that «Christianity was brainwashing», people decided to give radical support for Ruto, who is expected to continue to put his faith first within his administration, of which he has been immersed in politics for 10 years.
This Tuesday he was inaugurated as president in front of a crowd that packed the Kasarani Stadium, west of Nairobi, attended by more than twenty heads of state and African governments from countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and the Republic of Congo, among others.
Through his Twitter account, Ruto shared different verses along with the photos of his investiture, with Proverbs 3: 5-6 he sent the message that he fully trusts God and relies on Him for any decision that includes great wisdom.
God bless and direct the new president of Kenya so that with his decisions he can allow the Lord to work, bring justice, prosperity, tolerance, and much more importantly, increase the spread of the Gospel in the country.
