One of the episodes of season 18 of the famous show “American Idol” featured the audition of a subway singer from New York City. Her story was so touching that at the end of the show she asked the famous judges to repeat a prayer of faith with her, and they accepted.
Samantha Díaz, known as “Just Sam,” sang in an episode of the show that was broadcast last weekend. Besides singing, she also told her testimony.
The aspiring singer, 20, revealed to the jury that her grandmother adopted her when her parents abandoned her.
Díaz shared that singing in the subway is the only source of income she has and that the money she gets is only enough to supply the basic needs of her family.
Judges and stars from entertainment: Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan welcomed the singer; who describes her participation in the show as a “dream come true” and also as an “opportunity that would change her life“.
She began her audition by singing “You Say” by Lauren Daigle, but she was so nervous and excited that she could not finish singing.
A few seconds later and after gaining a little more confidence, she agreed to close her performance by singing “Rise Up” by Andra Day.
Richie shared with her a few words after her exciting performance: “I’m so grateful that God put you in front of us.”
“We have been saved again!”
After seeing all the support she was receiving, Samantha boldly asked them if she could pray with them.
“Can I pray with you guys. Is that OK?” the young woman said. “I have a prayer I want to do with you guys.
“So repeat after me,” she told the judges as they all held hands in agreement. “Heavenly Father, Lord make my life brand new right here, right now, with my friends and my new fam.”
After completing the sentence, Perry shouted: “We’ve been saved again!” To which Díaz responded with a “Thank you, Jesus.”
Samantha passed the audition and now she is on her way to Hollywood for the next round of the competition.
