Israeli technology creates the first masks that prevent contagion of Coronavirus

Israel becomes a leader in innovation by creating a tool that could protect them from the Coronavirus epidemic.

The Israeli nation came up several medures to prevent arrival of the virus to the country, one of them is forbidding the entrance of foreigners to the country. The other one is an innovation. It is the creation of a face-mask with antiviral tissue. The best part is that the mask kills any virus when people wash it.

These masks have highly effective properties against the virus

This creation belongs to Sonovia company. This company uses sound waves impregnating the fabric with metal nanoparticles of zinc oxide and copper.

The masks and their material have antibacterial and antiviral properties that destroy any virus.

At the moment, the tissues used prove to be effective against several strains of influenza and at least six of bacteria such as E.coli and Staph. This mask resists up to 100 washes at 167 F.

We are actually in the process of accelerating our research and development into this particular field because we know that there is an epidemic at the moment and we want to be able to help China distribute this equipment once we’ve got the approval and then we’ll be able to manufacture masks on a large scale,” Dr. Jason Migdal, leader of Business Development at Sonovia told CBN News.

«We can save many lives»

Besides this, the company also wants to produce this innovation in things hospitals use daily such as bedclothes, baskets and even the curtains.

We had our treated textiles in the bedding, in the gowns, in the drapes and it was found in a study that was conducted over several weeks, that there was significantly lowered hospital-acquired infections,” explained Migdal.

This tools is to prevent the virus. And although they have not been tested in patients with Coronavirus, they do not rule out their distribution them in China when they approve this project  by the expert authorities.

Meanwhile, the Sonovia work team is looking for partners that can help the project and take it to the most affected areas of China.

Waiting for the best

Despite the chaos related to the Wuhan coronavirus, technology experts from Isreal still share winds of hope.

Some Israeli companies are focusing on the creation of revolutionary antiviral supplies for the spread to stop.

Israel has technologies that can support controlling this epidemic,” says Liat Goldhammer-Steinberg, CTO of Sonovia in Ramat Gan.
