Disturbing news is circulating around the world. According to many sources of information, experiments of the creation of animals with human features are more real than you think.
Apparently, the motivation behind this frightening idea is to bring “benefits” to humans.
Scientists are creating embryos that are part human and part animal to form a better look at animals that could be used as sources of organs for transplantation.
They believe you could grow a custom organ inside an animal instead of relying on a donor.
For some people, this seems to be an extraordinary idea because many diseases would be healed without the requirement of another human.
However, some others believe “scientists may have taken a big and controversial leap by mixing human cells into animal’s embryos”.
Where are these experiments taking place?
Juan Carlos Izpisúa Belmonte, a Spanish biologist, has been working with monkey researchers in China to create “human-animal chimeras,” in this case monkey embryos to which human cells are added.
Another case is in Japan where a research group received approval from a committee in the Japanese government on July 24 to move forward with an experiment that will put a type of human stem cells (cells that can grow into almost any cell) into animal embryos.
Inside the embryos, the human cells may grow into specific organs. If all goes well, the researchers plan to eventually grow human organs in other animals.
Ronald Parchem, an assistant professor of neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston said: “It has tremendous potential to help many people who are suffering from a broad variety of diseases or in need of different types of tissue or organ replacement.”
