Christians clean Beirut’s hospital with the help of its inhabitants motivated by solidarity

An entire Christian church took to the streets of Beirut to help those affected by the explosion that shook the entire country last week.

André Argente and Michel Matar, together with their ministry, which has been living in Lebanon for some years, took to the streets to express their solidarity with the victims of the event, as well as in other nearby towns.

Among the work carried out by the servants was the deep cleaning of a hospital in the city that was completely damaged by the explosion. The group helped to remove the debris so that those affected could be received more quickly.

Similarly, a support tent was set up near the hospital for all those who wish to help. Food and water were provided for the volunteers.

Through social networks, the pastor shared images of the day thanking God for the opportunity to help in this moment of crisis for Beirut and its inhabitants.

“Thank God, we were able to clean everything up. Everything is clean inside. God is faithful,” he said from outside the ‘Hospital des Soeurs du Rosale’ with the servants.

“Everything here was made of glass and rubble. But we managed to get it all out. Keep praying for us. Tomorrow we will be here again to clean up this and other hospitals that need it,” he added.

Prayers about the local people are more active than ever. Said Pastor Michel Matar, who said they are already working to get more volunteers because the levels of need are increasing every day.

“We thank you for your prayers, for whatever comes from the Lord God is welcome. We walk here in Beirut and almost everything we go through is destroyed. So, as a Church, we have to go to the countryside, help people clean, eat too, because many people have lost their homes, cannot cook and have no food,” he said in a video.

“So this is what we are doing now, basically. Now we’re going to look for more volunteers, because the need is so great,” she continued.

The pastor also congratulated the local people themselves for joining in helping their fellow countrymen since the explosion occurred; thousands of demonstrations of solidarity are shown every day.

“I am very grateful to the people in general and I am not only talking about the Church, but about the Lebanese people. It is not the government that is helping, but the people,” he said.

The death toll in Beirut is more than 150 people, not counting those under the ruins of the buildings and the injured who cannot fit in the hospitals.
