“You Say” by Lauren Daigle set the tone this week on Billboard when her single secured the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs list based on streaming, airplay, and sales.

Christian song breaks the record on Billboard by taking the first place more than a year

For 62 consecutive weeks, the song remained in position number one (1), breaking the 61-week record set by Hillsong United with the song Oceans.

In an interview with Billboard, the Grammy winner explained that her inspiration when writing the album was “Oceans”.

Now her track passes Hillsong United’s “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail),” which began its 61-frame rule in December 2013.

“I really pondered the journey of the song ‘Oceans,’ and I remember seeing the impact that song made on so many people. It was just so beautiful to me,” Daigle tells Billboard. “I hoped that I could be a part of something that shakes the earth like that song. I didn’t know that would ever happen, and I had no idea that ‘You Say’ would be something that would parallel the life of ‘Oceans.’ “

«You Say», exceeded 5.7 million transmissions in the United States and more than 5000 downloads sold leading the sales of Christian Digital Song.

The album not only set records in Christian music

It also surpassed secular artists such as Drake, Ariana Grande, and many others the week that came out, ranking number 3 on the Billboard 200 general list.

It led the Christian Airplay category for 17 weeks and commanded for two weeks at Adult Contemporary, where it spends its 21st week in the top three.

“Fan stories have made” You Say “even richer,” says Daigle.

«It was the first song we wrote after How Can It Be, when I wasn’t sure of myself. From the point of view of writing, I felt rusty, and “You Say” was the song that made me feel we were back on track.

“Knowing that you have connected with so many people is an incredible feeling,” confessed the singer
