China authorities order Christians to stop believing in God and close house churches across the nation

Persecution continues for Christians in China as the authorities ordered people of faith to stop believing in God and also closed house churches across the nation.

In May, the Religious Affairs Bureau in the province’s Yongzhou city closed a house church for “holding illegal gatherings without permits” . It and confiscated all valuables in the venue, including Bibles.

According to the testimony of one Christian, an official said to him that they could “not believe in God in China”, and revealed that some officers warned eight arrested members that they would be sentenced to three to five years in prison continued to attend religious gatherings.

“We don’t break any law by believing in God, but the government treats us this way. The government wants to eliminate all religions and threatens us with the future of our family members, forcing us to give up our belief. It’s really shameless,” the believer said.

Bitter Winter magazine reported that Chinese officials closed around 48 Three-Self churches and meeting places between April 18-30 in Yugan county.

Persecution in China

According to Persecution watchdog Open Doors USA ranks China takes the place of being as one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to Christian persecution.
