In the United Kingdom, police arrested two teenagers after a video on social media went viral, showing them assaulting a young black man by demanding that he kneel down and kiss his shoes.
The attack occurred earlier this week in the English town of Holmfirth, County West Yorkshire.
The Snapchat video, seen over 1.5 million times on Twitter, shows a young white man and a young white woman repeatedly screaming at the black boy to get down on his knees and kiss his shoes.
The boy is slapped by the male youth twice in the 45-second long footage.
During the video, the white teenager shouts: “Kiss my shoe now. No-one is going to back you.”
He also says: “Kiss my fresh Air Force One Pro I paid £120 for.”
Finally the young black man gives in and kisses the shoes, after receiving threats of being beaten, according to local media reports.
West Yorkshire Police said two teenagers had been arrested after a video was reported to them on Wednesday.
“A male aged 17 has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault and a female aged 16 has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence. They are both currently in police custody,” said the Police this Thursday in a satement.
