ALARMING: Coronavirus exceeds the number of deaths of «SARS» in 2003

The number of deaths from Coronavirus already exceeds the number of victims of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) epidemic in 2003.

Only in Wuhan, the origin of the outbreak, the number already exceeds 800 dead, according to data from the regional authorities modified yesterday.

The coronavirus already leaves about 37,500 cases in 26 countries, the vast majority (37,199) in China, where 813 deaths have been registered, including one death in Hong Kong, while another death has occurred in the Philippines.

In 2003, 774 people died due to SARS in more than 20 countries.

Last month, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the global health emergency for the new outbreak.

Japan (90 cases)
There is a cruise ship that is moored in the port of Yokohama with about 3,700 occupants in quarantine; 64 of the passengers are affected.

Singapore (40 cases)The authorities of this country raised the alert to the orange level. This level of alert means that the disease is considered “serious” and easily contagious.

Thailand (32 cases)
The Ministry of Health reported seven new cases in recent hours, four of them Chinese citizens. One of the infected, a Thai citizen, was part of the group of 138 people who were evacuated from Wuhan on Tuesday.

South Korea (25 cases)
This Friday, 368 people arrived in Seoul on a charter flight from Wuhan evacuated by the South Korean government. In the next few hours, another 300 people are expected to leave the Chinese city on a similar flight.

Taiwan (18 cases)
The authorities have banned the entry of foreigners who have been in Hong Kong and Macao, in addition to mainland China, for the past 14 days.

Malaysia (16 cases)
The country’s authorities have evacuated dozens of its citizens this week who will remain in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

Vietnam (13 cases)
The Vietnamese authorities confirmed their first local contact. This is a 25-year-old receptionist at a hotel in the province of Khanh Hoa, in the south of the country. Health experts diagnosed her after being in contact with two Chinese tourists.

United Arab Emirates (7 cases)
Five of those affected are members of a Chinese family from Wuhan.

India (3 cases)

Philippines (3 cases, 1 death)
The only death from coronavirus registered outside China has been that of a 44-year-old man in the Philippines. There was a patient of Chinese origin who began to develop pneumonia that ended his life. The other case is that of a woman, also Chinese, 38 years old, and a couple of the deceased.

Sri Lanka (1 case)
The only positive case detected is that of a Chinese tourist from Hubei.

Cambodia (1 case)
A 60-year-old man from Wuhan is the only case detected.

Nepal (1 case)
The virus was detected in a 32-year-old man from Wuhan.


Germany (14 cases)
Once the cases are related to the Webasto auto parts supplier, it is based in the Starnberg district. The rest are two people who left the Chinese city of Wuhan.

France (11 cases)
The French Minister of Health, Agnes Buzyn, announced on Saturday that five new cases of the Chinese coronavirus have been identified in the Haute-Savoie region, and those affected, four adults and one child, show no signs of seriousness.

United Kingdom (3 cases)
The health authorities confirmed a fourth case, which was in contact with another infected person who is in the United Kingdom and the transmission occurred in France.

Italy (3 cases)
An Italian, in his 30s, who was repatriated with another 55 from Wuhan this week has tested positive and is the third infected case in Italy, according to the Ministry of Health of the country.

Spain (2 cases)
Health confirmed this Sunday a second case: it is one of the four members of a British family. They are under surveillance at the Hospital Son Espases de Palma. The other case is that of a German tourist on the island of La Gomera.

Russia (2 cases)
The Kremlin has begun to measure the temperature of all those attending the events in which Russian President Vladimir Putin participates, as a precaution against the progress of the coronavirus.

Belgium (1 case)
Belgium confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the country after one of the nine Belgians repatriated on Sunday from the Chinese city of Wuhan. They tested positive when their arrival, the Belgian Ministry of Health reported.

Sweden (1 case)
The Public Health Agency of the country confirmed its first case of coronavirus. It is a woman who had visited the Wuhan area and had shown symptoms after her return. The patient is in isolation in a hospital in Stockholm.

Finland (1 case)
This is a Chinese tourist from Wuhan, who is isolated in a hospital.


United States (12 cases)
The Trump administration decided to declare a public health emergency and limit entry to foreigners who have visited China recently.

Canada (7 cases)
One of the patients with the disease was discharged on Friday and left the hospital where he was being treated.


Australia (15 cases)
The Australian government announced that they can help some of their citizens leave Hubei and quarantine attacks on Christmas Island. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has not specified how many of the 600 Australians registered in the Hubei area will be repatriated. But he has added that they will work to help the citizens of New Zealand and other Pacific nations.
